Pricing FAQ

How billing actually works.

How is a conversation counted?
One customer thread — regardless of how many messages it contains. If a single customer asks four questions about their order in one conversation, that's one conversation. If they come back next week with a new question, that starts a new conversation.
What happens if I exceed my cap?
The AI pauses on new conversations until your next billing cycle. Existing in-flight conversations keep working so customers aren't left hanging. You can upgrade in one click — no overage fees, no surprise bills.
Can I switch plans mid-month?
Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated. Downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing cycle.
Do you offer refunds?
Yes. If Helmsly isn't working for your store, email support@helmsly.io within 30 days of your first paid invoice and we'll refund it in full. After that we'll prorate refunds case-by-case — annual plans are refunded for any unused full months on cancellation.
How does annual billing work?
Switch to annual and you pay 10 months up front for 12 — a 17% discount versus monthly. Your conversation cap resets every month as usual. Cancel partway through the year and unused full months are prorated back to you.
Is there a free trial?
The Free plan covers 50 conversations per month, every month, with all features unlocked. It's a permanent free tier rather than a time-bounded trial — try it on real traffic without a deadline.
What's included in Enterprise?
Custom conversation cap (1M+), an SLA, white-glove onboarding, a dedicated success contact, and a negotiated contract. If you're at the Scale plan ceiling and want to talk, contact us at support@helmsly.io.
Are there setup fees or contracts?
No setup fees. No annual commitment on monthly plans. Billed through Shopify's billing API, so it appears on the same invoice as your Shopify subscription.
